Gaming platform adds prediction market trading
Known as a hub for millions of competitive gamers, Players’ Lounge now allows eligible users to trade sports event contracts alongside competing for cash prizes in popular titles.
ProphetX’s dual DCM and DCO registrations allow the company to operate its own federally regulated prediction market exchange, where users trade event contracts directly with one another rather than wagering with a sportsbook. Available markets include live sporting events, player props and esports competitions.
In a ProphetX press release, Jake Benzaquen, co-founder and chief commercial officer, said the partnership gives a new generation of sports fans access to transparent, exchange-based prediction markets.
“Players’ Lounge has built something genuinely rare: a platform where a new generation of sports fans already shows up, competes, and has real money on the line. That community deserves access to the most competitive, transparent markets on the planet — and that’s exactly what ProphetX provides.
This isn’t sports betting dressed up in new clothes. It’s a federal exchange where the crowd sets the price and every participant is on a level playing field.”
Expansion planned ahead of NFL season
The integration is now live for eligible users in applicable U.S. jurisdictions, with additional markets and product expansions planned ahead of the NFL season. Users must complete Know Your Customer verification before trading.
Players’ Lounge CEO Austin Woolridge said the partnership aligns with the platform’s mission of giving players more ways to compete and engage within its ecosystem.
Players’ Lounge continues rapid growth
Founded in 2016, Players’ Lounge is a skill-based gaming platform where users compete against one another in video game tournaments for cash prizes. The company says it has processed more than $250 million in gaming wagers and built a community of millions of players across competitive gaming titles.
The company is backed by investors including Drake, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, Comcast Ventures and Samsung Next.
