  • The New York Mets have made Novig their official prediction market partner.
  • The league partnered with Polymarket in March.

The New York Mets have signed a multi-year marketing deal with Novig, becoming the first MLB franchise to partner with a prediction market company. The agreement adds another sign that prediction markets are moving deeper into mainstream US sports.

The Mets announced the partnership last week. In a statement, Mets President of Business Operations Lew Sherr said:

“We’re proud to be the first Major League Baseball club to partner with a prediction market company, giving our fans a new and engaging way to connect with the game.”

Novig received CFTC approval last month

The deal is a marketing agreement, but financial terms were not disclosed. Specific assets or fan activations included in the partnership were also not detailed.

The move lands in a fast-changing sports landscape for prediction markets. MLB announced a deal with Polymarket in March, and the New York Post recently reported that the league approved Novig as an authorized league partner. That designation allows Novig to use official league data and participate in MLB’s integrity program.

Novig debuted in 2021 as a peer-to-peer sports betting platform before shifting to a prediction market model. The company was founded by Harvard graduates Jacob Fortinsky and Kelechi Ukah. According to the report, Novig received approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission last month.

The Mets deal also fits into the club’s wider betting and casino ties. Owner Steve Cohen is pursuing a casino project around Citi Field with Hard Rock, and Caesars already serves as an official sports betting partner of the franchise.
