​The 2016 presidential election is nearly 17 months away but with more than a dozen candidates looking for attention, the American Gaming Association has sent out letters urging candidates to get familiar with the casino industry and its issues.

​The owners of the former Trump Plaza hotel and casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk do not want the building used as a casino for at least a decade, according to a deed restriction that still needs the approval of a bankruptcy court judge.

MGM’s request for a one-year delay in the scheduled opening of its Springfield, Mass., resort is good news for the two Connecticut tribes that are hoping for a jointly operated casino near the border separating the two states.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to continue their recent domination of the Diamondbacks when the two teams meet at Chase Field for the opener of a three-game series in Phoenix.
