In my opinion, Nevada’s Senator Harry Reid took a wrong step when saying he wanted to ban all brothels in Nevada. Has he forgotten where he’s from?
Legalized prostitution is part of the Nevada landscape even though Las Vegas and all of Clark County remain an exception. Just what we don’t need in Nevada, more people out of work.
Maybe Mr. Reid should spend more time concentrating on the creation of jobs instead of redefining the state and our wonderful city of Las Vegas – Sin City to you and all who visit. It’s true, Las Vegas is an open city, but that’s part of the Vegas experience and what continually draws people from all parts of the world.
Las Vegas and Nevada are both spectacular in their own ways. Senator Reid doesn’t need to alter our landscape.
A big surprise this week for Monti was the show Piano! Las Vegas at the V Theater in Planet Hollywood. Ryan Ahern is more than accomplished, he’s a showman. With a full band backing him, Ahern is a part of a most entertaining show.
I went back to Criss Angel’s show Believe at the Luxor for a photo-op. Again, I was bowled over by his graciousness and the time spent with yours truly and all the photographers. I witnessed a work in progress of the rebranding of this artist.
Here’s a little known fact… Angel has three recordings out as a singer. Who knew? Earlier, I referred to Criss as the rock ‘n’ roll Mick Jagger of magic. I wasn’t so far off. Thanks again to the Luxor, the executives and Steve Katz for the desserts and coffee, lots of laughs and conversation. Thank you, guys.
Charlie Sheen has finally done it! His top-rated TV comedy show has been cancelled by CBS and Warner. The final straw was his public put down of his writers and producers during a radio interview. Further production has been halted. Thanks to Mr. Sheen, the entire staff is now added to our unemployment list.
What’s the deal with Vince Neil? The former front man for Motley Crew is serving his 15-day sentence for last year’s DUI. Serve your time and straighten up! You got a DUI and end up with only a slap on the wrist? Get over it.
Carolyn Goodman, beautiful wife of Mayor Oscar Goodman, seems to be the front-runner in the current campaign for mayor of Las Vegas. Let’s be honest, Oscar was the best when it came to promoting Las Vegas. He laid out a good example for any mayor.
I wanted to run for the job but was too busy with my own promotions, my movies, recordings and comebacks.
On the Celine Dion front, my wonderful friend David Filter and his English Garden Florist staff are providing all the flowers for Celine’s dressing room and hotel accommodations at Caesars Colosseum as well as Celine’s beautiful home. David is known as the florist to the stars in Las Vegas.
Gas prices are rising almost daily. Once again, our government does almost nothing to stop these increases. There are many other sources of energy that could make us less dependent on foreign oil such as off-shore drilling in our own waters or utilizing the vast amounts of shale we have. If this situation continues, we’ll never get out of this recession.

Attention salseros: We’re back in business, so to speak. The great Michito Latin Dance Band, featuring percussionist Johnny "Dandy" Rodriguez is moving to Suncoast on Friday nights beginning March 18. The band recently completed a long run at South Point and is now moving to the west side. Listening and dancing to this music reminds us of the heyday of Latin dancing at New York’s famous Palladium Ballroom. You can’t top that!
It’s only been a few weeks since the latest addition to the Las Vegas Strip opened, but Cosmopolitan has already had a shake-up. Two executives have made a hasty retreat. Cosmo, in our opinion, hasn’t quite fit into the Vegas scene yet.
Las Vegas can be a tough nut to crack and lessons can be hard. If you don’t play nice and think you’re too far above the masses, including me, you learn very quickly it’s not good.
Holly Madison from Peep Show at Planet Hollywood still can be seen all around town and on her reality show on E-television. Singer Josh Strickland, the male lead in Peep Show, was featured on her TV show. They were televised while adding lyrics to his dance single. This not only helped bring the recording to No. 9 on the iTunes dance chart, but has opened doors for him to possibly get a recording deal in the very near future.
At a recent opening, I ran into Antoinette Giancana, who was quick to inform me she made an exit as far as the Mob Experience at the Tropicana. She’s filed suit and there’s been a lot of "ballyhoo" with Jay Bloom. Stay tuned.
As usual the Rev. Monti wishes you a great week.
