Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, a strong advocate for expanded gambling in his state, has made public a plan to amend the state’s constitution in order to allow up to seven casinos.
The plan will be sponsored in the state senate by Republican Sen. Damon Thayer of Georgetown. If approved, the state’s electorate will then be given a chance to decide the matter.
Opposition was immediate and very vocal.
