Gov. Martin O’Malley is considering creating a panel to study expanded gambling in Maryland.
Raquel Guillory, a spokeswoman for O’Malley, said the possibility of creating a commission to study adding table games and more casino locations is “under discussion.”
The governor has said he will consider calling a special legislative session this summer to address gaming.
A measure to legalize table games and bring a sixth casino to Maryland stalled in the Legislature earlier this year.
Some observers blame the proposal with tying up the Assembly’s attempt to pass a revenue package, tipping off $512 million in budget cuts.
O’Malley is expected to call the Legislature back into session later this month to address the budget.
Guillory says there is no timeframe for when O’Malley may create a gaming commission.
