The first WSOP Circuit Event of 2012 arrived last Thursday at Caesars Palace. It would be wonderful for both of us to play in the Oklahoma Johnny Hale no limit seniors event Sunday, Jan. 29, but only one of us qualifies.
The buy in for the Seniors event will only be $130. We want to invite all of our senior friends to come out and play at 10 a.m. this Sunday. The time sounds a little early, but us seniors all get up earlier than young whippersnappers.
Andrew Rich, poker room manager at Caesars, and his staff have put together 21 days of nonstop events. Andy has arranged something a little different – never having played in a no-limit hold’em poker tournament that does not have a small blind and a big blind.
In this event, there will only be ante’s. That said, it should be a lot of fun. The buy in for this ante only event will be $350. This is a part of the WSOP, but they do not award bracelets to the winners.
Instead of gold bracelets they will reward the winners of some 12 different events with rings. There was a Pot Limit Omaha poker tournament this past Sunday.
The feature event will be a four day no limit championship this Friday with a buy in of $1,600 in the main no limit poker tournament.
Also on the agenda are Super Satellites each day for $70 and Turbo with re-buys for $50. These will be for the $350 ring events. Andy has arranged for 10 seats to be guaranteed from each of these super satellites into the $350 ring event of the player’s choice.
As a new feature, we will be posting the results on our website www.okjohnny.com so the folks can come there and find the results of the events a day or so after each event.
The ancient Aztec calendar says the year 2012 will be the end of days so I think we will just go play in most of these poker events because if the Aztecs are right, poker tournaments may also end!
Our Tip of the Week
Ramakrishna, an acclaimed mystic in 19th-century India, said "The world is indeed a mixture of truth and make-believe!" It is ok to trust the other poker players but be sure you cut the cards.
We believe the Stewards of Poker should be in control of all of our poker games, just as Webster is the authority on dictionaries.
The Stewards know the rules and will make sure the games are played according to Hoyle! We invite you to be a part of the third force and help us create the Stewards of Poker. If done, you will have a better or at least fair chance to take the money home.
We wish everyone to Stay Lucky!

An Internet gambling bill being considered by New Jersey lawmakers could allow Atlantic City’s casinos to take bets from people in other states or countries, although key details remain to be worked out.
The nation’s commercial casinos continued their slow-but-steady comeback from the recession last year, with revenues up 3 percent nationwide and jobs holding nearly steady, according to a report released Wednesday.
Revel, the $2.4 billion casino resort widely seen as Atlantic City’s best hope of survival, trailed most of its competition in its first month of operation, placing 8th out of the city’s 12 casinos.
