Pro Football's 'Big Game' super for Vegas January 24, 2012 3:00 AM by Jimmy Vaccaro

Just a few years removed, but they are at it again.

Act Two between Pats and "Gints" will take place in less than two weeks. Numbers are floating around at 3 or 3½ with New England favored, but let the bidding begin.

The only thing that will curtail betting the first week is the number itself. It is just too good, making it hard for some jockeying early on. Not much room on either side to stick your collective neck out in a big way with a number that will play rock solid into late next week.

It is the Super Bowl and will gain momentum as we start putting together props and all the hysteria that goes with this magnificent event we all wait for. If the game lives up to the season theatrics, we are in for a good one.

See how close it is just to survive and advance in the NFL. Two Harbaugh brothers are now "none." One got the "boot" by his kicker missing a chip shot to put the game into overtime. The other having to watch almost a gimme to oust his 49ers.

The Giants are headed to Indy but it sure wasn’t easy. Go back a few short weeks with that monumental win against Dallas to revive their slim playoff hopes. Down 12 with under five minutes and scoring to cut it down to a one possession game.

Do you remember Tony Romo overthrowing Miles Austin, which would have put the Cowboys back up to 12 with slightly over two minutes to go? Giants figured to have their playoff dance card cancelled if the pass was thrown anywhere near Austin.

That’s what makes this game what it is. Calm down, take a deep breath as we head for sunny Indy. In our case the best place to watch anything sports related is in our own backyard.

Press your LAKERS and OVER bets for a while and it will make the time go faster. Take care and talk to you next week. Jimmy V.
