FAIRPLEX

ACAFFELLA: Richard Mandella first time starter going a flat mile on the grass ran just super picking up the place despite a wide trip, this 2yo colt has the looks of a big time grass horse, so we will keep him on our watch list.

SO SHE DANCES: This was another 2yo first time starter going a mile on the grass, this race for 2yo fillies was ran almost like the one for colts on the previous day when Acafella ran second, So She Dances ran huge in this race putting in a big late wide run and was one of three on the wire while widest of all, this filly can flat out run and will be very hard to beat next time out going long on the grass. $$$$$

ZIPPIN E: Was last seen running second at Keeneland in April, she showed up here in the Mike Mitchell barn, she made a three wide run into the stretch but had to come out more for clear sailing losing some ground, she then engaged the winner while both exchanged some bumps and had to settle for the place money. No mistakes for this filly next time out.

UNIVERSAL PEACE: Neil Drysdale trainee was coming off a little layoff and was let go at 22-1, he was chomping at the bit while pulling his jock out of the saddle in the early going, he looked to be making a big run but had to check off heels in midstretch, he then split horses and surged to pick up the place in what was a great try.

DIXIE CROSS: This 2yo colt look great on the track and he had some real good win early breeding, he was bet down from 9-2 on the morning line to 5-2 at post, he showed good early speed but was caught wide the entire trip, he battled determinedly but could not hold on and had to settle for the show dough losing by less than a length.

PACIFIC PRIDE: This is one fast 2yo filly out of the Jerry Hollendorfer barn, she just broke her maiden but I would not be surprised to see Jerry move her right into a stakes race.

GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

LADY FROM DENVER: You had to see this race in order to understand how much the best this first time starter was in here. She came storming into the stretch but got caught behind rivals and was blocked from the three sixteenths to inside the furlong marker while jockey Stra was holding on for dear life, she then found a narrow opening split rivals but was jostled between them, she gamely dug in and finished with a surge but just could not get up at 31-1 and those of us who needed this filly for the pick four are still a little sick. $$$$$

APT TO BE AMAZING: I really hate betting on R. Baze but I had to take my shot in this race as I have been doing well with this filly and how she was getting her first start off the Morey claim and looked perfectly spotted, well Baze turned in one of his rare butcher jobs as this girl was repeatedly steadied off heels and between horses into the first turn, she remained under strong restraint into the backstretch, she then bobbled and was swung out four wide but her race was over.

FIRE SEEKER: First time starter was just hammered at the windows but could not run down the odds on lone speed, this one will be a good single next time out.

From the time we knew who would be playing in the Super Bowl, I’ve always had a lean on the Patriots to win. As great as the Giants have been on their march to the Super Bowl, I still can’t get their bad losses out of my head.

Being in Las Vegas, it’s easy to forget just how many people are betting the Super Bowl "illegally" around the nation. A survey released Tuesday found that at least 25 million Americans will bet money on this Sunday’s Patriots-Giants NFL title game.
