Online poker cheating incident reaches a $20 million settlement

Boyd Gaming Corp (BYD) is noted for its casino operations in various parts of the country, but especially in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Atlantic City, New Jersey.

But last week, the company shook the horse racing world by announcing that it was setting the purse of the Delta Downs Jackpot, a grade III race, at $1 million.

Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel was purchased by Boyd Gaming several years ago. The track is located in Vinton, Louisiana.

"We are committed to making the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot one of the most important two-year-old stakes on the national racing calendar, " said Paul Chakmak, COO of Boyd Gaming. "The November 20 date and the $1 million purse will provide a path for a run at the 2011 Triple Crown." This path begins on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs in Kentucky.
