Interest in World Cup action in South Africa caused a substantial reduction in Macau gambling business, according to Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

Macau gaming revenues for June were $1.7 billion, down about 20 percent from the May level.

Analysts said they expected the July revenues to be impacted as well since the World Cup activity continues through the middle of the month.
